Harvest of the Month

Golden Kiwi

golden kiwi 2.jpgGold kiwis distinguish themselves from common kiwis in color, texture and flavor, it is a distinct and independent species, Actinidia chinensis. It has a less acid-forward flavor, with notes of pineapple and mango, as well as bronze toned, smooth, hairless paper-thin skin. Kiwifruit is an excellent source of vitamin C and vitamin K as well as a very good source of copper and dietary fiber. It is also a good source of vitamin E, potassium, folate and manganese.

Bean of the Month

Black Eyed Peas

The Black Eyed Pea is NOT a pea, it’s actually a protein-packed white bean, with a little black spot in the middle! Eating Black Eyed Peas in January is a time honored tradition and is believed to bring luck and prosperity in the new year. Black Eyed Peas are rich in protein, a rich source of folate, the B vitamin important for helping your body to develop and grow
